Affiliated Groups
There are a number of groups affiliated with the BBRA. All of these contribute to our community in various ways most especially by linking members and others with shared interests or a desire to contribute .
FRIENDS OF THE BLOOMFIELD TUMPS:
The Friends of the Bloomfield Tumps is a group of volunteers who work with B&NES Parks Department and the charity Your Park to help manage & care for the Tumps…an established area of woodland located between Bloomfield Road and Wellsway, bordered by the Odd Down Sports Ground & the BMX track. The group arranges periodic activities including litter picking, clearance of invasive species, and tree & bulb planting to help the natural environment thrive whilst addressing the challenges of being an area well used by the public & which unfortunately suffers from Ash Die Back If you would like to know more or volunteer contact us at bloomfield.tumps@gmail.com or through our Facebook page @Friends of Bloomfield Tumps
BLOOMFIELD COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH: CSW is a partnership between the Police & community volunteers. It is strictly an educational program not associated with fines or penalties. The Bloomfield CSW is the largest, most active i BANES. Why? Because we are passionate about road safety. Divided into two teams our volunteers choose one hour shifts according to their availability. Some work once a month; others twice a week. The sessions take place at one of 5 locations along our road. These were selected and risk assessed by the Police. the sessions are scheduled by a local coordinator; a copy is shared with the Police who attend with us monthly. Bloomfield CSW actively participates in BANES Community SpeedWatch Association. For more information about CSW or to join one of our Bloomfield teams please contact us at bloomfieldbathra@gmail.com
ODD DOWN HISTORY GROUP: The history group was formed in October 2023 out of a desire to bring people together during the winter months. Originally the group was intended to focus on Family History however, it soon became abundantly clear that there was a need to explore the history of Odd Down; its people, businesses and buildings. Everyone welcome! It is an informal group of people who meet to share information, photographs & documents and chat about memories and people. There is no criteria to join other than an interest in local history. There is no charge however members are encouraged to support the venue with the purchase. The group meets every third Thursday at 2:00pm at the Odd Down Sports Ground cafe which has accessible parking & is served by the Number 4 bus. Please take a look at the Facebook page (@Odd Down History/Family History Research).

BLOOMFIELD NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE BEAT SURGERY: Once a month our Neighbourhood Police team come to the Odd Down Sports Ground Cafe to meet with residents, answer questions and discuss issues. Everyone is welcome; join us in the third Tuesday of the month from 10-11am.
